Default Decat sound???

I have a 94 import wrx with a cat back system on it at the mo but i have just got myself a decat...

Will the decat make it much louder? As i think it's loud enough as it is!!!

My back box came on the car when i got it and it was fitted in Jap, (4 1/2 inch) Is there a back box anyone know's of that is not to loud???

My car came with a full system and de-cat so im not sure.

My mate, however added a de-cat to his car, which already had a nur spec system fitted and I could really notice any sound difference tbh.

The decat on my 93wrx enhanced the exhaust noise which was nice.
I have a Revolution system which isn't too loud on the inside but makes a nice burble ,you could try Hayward & Scott as they make decent exhausts.
You could always get a db meter to test the exhaust before you go spending out money on a new exhaust.

If you're interested in a quieter back box if it gets too loud I'd be up for a swap with my stainless magnex rear box that is nice and quiet but still burbly and only 3.5".

Let me know via PM if interested!

Good news, no you don't have to keep putting the cat back on!!

Pre Sep 95 imports can be tested with the non-cat test, due to there being no exact match on the DOT register.

So throw your cat away

You don't need a cat to pass the MOT you only need to pass the emissions but it doesn't matter really as pre Sept 95 imports have the Basic Emissions Test.
