MY96 ECU swapping over for MY98 one

MY96 ECU swapping over for MY98 one
Having a MY98 engine fitted to my car, how easy/difficult is it so swap the loom so it takes the MY98 ECU aswell?
I know I can put my old inlet manifold on the engine and keep my existing ECU but I want to have the newer ECU (3 plug??) instead of my old one (4 Plug??). May need to confirm the number of plugs on both!
Any advice appreciated...
