Default CV Boot fitting

97 UK Classic

I need to change the boots on front CV joints. I've already split one and replaced with a split and glued one, but this looks like its leaking and the other one is bound to go just after I get my suspension aligned.

Can this be done by removing CV joint rather than removing the drive shaft from the hub ?

The best thing to do is buy a "stretchable" boot and fitting cone (or use a cut off ribena bottle). All you have to do then is undo the hub nut and drop the whole cv / shaft out, cut the old boot off and push the new one on.
