Default Inductin Kits

Hi, car is a 95 Jap WRX with a HKS exhaust and a HKS Mushrom type filter fitted, which looks about knackered and read their none to clever anyway so want to change it. Whats your opinions on the following

K&N,Pipercross,Blitz,Powertec or Apexi.

Am favouring the Apexi as the car already has the bit shown below fitted, for some reason unknown to me the previous Jap owner fitted the HKS on the end of it.

Can i just buy the filter or do i have to buy the whole thing, know the general consenus of opinion says stick with the original air box but its been removed back in the land of the rising sun.

If you want to go back to standard airbox, Welcome to the API website should be able to sort you one out

maybe yes maybe no, depends on what you want mate.

Some poeple swear by induction kits others detest them. I run a cold air induction kit on mine, but its newage and I believe the MAF is less of a problem

The HKS Induction kits are good quality parts.

Just change the filter itself to a new one, that's what I did on my last impreza.

You can always find spare airboxes (and resonator if that has been removed),the problem with the HKS filter is that allegedly they don't have good filtration.

Here's a piccy of the Apexi

I think you can buy just the filter of ebay.
From what i've heard and read the early MAFs are quite resilient, i've run an IK on my 93 wrx for 3 years and it's been fine (although i'm making a heat sheild for it.

You can get replacement APexi filter cones for very little, about £50 delivered from the far east. They're cheap (compared to the full kits) because the cones are designed to be replaced after 25000 km, not cleaned.

Oh sarcasm

the temp has been measured (whilst on an r/r) and wasn't significantly higher BUT it was higher hence why i said a sheild was being made

That's because they don't use the very useful SEARCH function (that does annoy me).

I have got the hks kit on my94 and it made a huge difference to midrange power and better throttle response , had it a year now and no problems with maf at all ! changed my filter element today as the old one was well dirty and there only £26 ! my mate also has one on his my95 and had it for 5yrs with no hassle , there is also one fitted to me mates skyline aswell so you might aswell keep it !
