This has probably been asked numerous times and I am still trying to figure out the search function on this forum so I thought I would post it up again,

I am told that the ECU from a MY98 Impreza WRX cannot be re-mapped, to allow re-mapping the ECU must be changed.

Can the ECU from an earlier or later car be used in the MY98 model?

If not is there one particular aftermarket number that comes reccomended? and how much would we be talkin for it?

also how much does a mapping session cost and how long does it take?

Thought this might have been one of those questions that someone would have been able to answer

 

Not much point in changing the ecu for an earlier model as they can't be remapped either (you could try a 99 ecu as they can be remapped with the ecutek software but i don't know if it will fit).
Do a search on here or google for Andy Forrest,Jolly Green monster,Zen Performance,Powerstation,TSL,Thor racing (to name just a few)

 

A My99 Ecu wont fit on the 98 car, Basicly do a search for Power FC, Link Ecu or Motec, these systems can be bought and then mapped.

 

As said you cannot fit an ecu from a newer car, and no point from the older..
