Default Possible turbo on way out ?

Been out for the day and noticed my car is smoking from the exhaust !

Had someone behind me and they said when on acceleration there is no smoke at all. When on boost there is no smoke,if I lift off for a couple of seconds then go back on the throttle there is a big puff of grey/blue smoke.

Could this be the turbo ? Its a TD05 running 1.4 bar.

I dont think its engine related as it was recently rebuilt about 9000 miles ago.

You normally find if the turbo oil seal is failing you will have smoke on “start up” as well as de acceleration. I would expect more on de acceleration due to the increased vacuum pulling the oil through the seals.

What turbo is a good replacement for a td05 ? Im thinking of going for a VF34 and remap cos that's quite sensible money. Is that the best choice of turbo without spending mega money ?

replace the turbo with another td05, it's a great turbo, and you won't need a remap.
