Default Can anyone identify......

Help,

Can anyone identify what dump valve is fitted to my car from the picture?

It was on the car when I got it.

Thanks.

Scott

looks like a "forge motorsport" item from the not so detailed picture to me, not sure though.

If it is, it should have "forge" engraved on it.

Cheers

Yeah sorry for the small picture, but it was the only one I had available.

The car is currently at the main dealers as it has not been running right and the mechanic reckons the dump valve is the problem so I was just wanting to check what unit is in it.

I have seen issues with cheap vent to atmosphere dump valves that cause running issues, but not heard anything bad about the forge recirculating ones, if anything from what I have read on here (I am not an expert) they are far better than the standard item on the my99.

It was fitted by the previous owner not long before I bought it. Could it be that he has cocked up the fitting or are these idiot proof when fitting.

Anything I can check / do to see if it is working ok?

Regards

yeap, to rule out the dump valve as the problem temporary block it up and see if your running problem is cured. if it is then yes dump valve is the issue if not then its something else.

Its easy to block these type up, In the past I have cut a bit of plastic out from an old bottle, undone the bolts that hold the dump valve to the intercooler, inserted/cut the bit of plastic bottle so that it covers the dump valve hole in the intercooler then bolt the dump valve back down tight over the top of it. Its only tempory and will make your car sound like a rally car when you change gear on boost but it will not do any damage in the few miles it takes to see if it makes it run any better (some peeps on here run with the dump vavle blocked up all the time).

Cheers
