Default which engine is fitted?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether there are any things i can check to determine exactly which engine (wrx or sti etc) i have fitted as i'm not sure the engine goes with the year and model of impreza i have bought, would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Get the engine number code off your VIN plate under the bonnet and then look it up on the link below:

Click on "which WRX is an STi"

a up dan, if you have an sti it should have cros hatching on parts of the block, and you would have a TD05 on an sti a TD04 on a wrx, thats about all i know from the out side of the engine, if you was to take the engine out of an sti and split it you would see it has closed cylinder bores, on a wrx you can run your finger round the out side of the bores, hope this helps, phil.

Default which engine

Mine has the TD05 turbo fitted and i/c water spray but not red inlet manifold, I cannot use the info on the vin plate as it says the model i have is a 1993 wrx ra but mine is on a N plate 1995 so i think it has a different engine fitted.
Thanks
Dan.

look near the oil filler it should have a type of grid marking on the block if it is an sti.
