Default Best place for re-map

Hi everyone, just after some info really,i've got a 99 2.0lt turbo wagon ,and i'm wanting to get it re-mapped...

Just wondering where u guys/girls,suggest i take it , at the moment the car as full de cat ,and jr panel filter and thats about it really..

Also i've heard i may be best going for a stand alone apexi unit,as i could sell this on when come to sell car,is this also a better option(power wise)..

Also any info on rough prices/power figures (after re-map) would be much appreiciated.....

Thanks in advance......

By the way i'm Yorkshire based (Leeds).....

Obviously Andy F is very highly regarded. But if you want a BHP figure after mapping you'll probably have to pay extra to get on a RR. The last I heard is that Andy F doesn't use a rolling road & his mapping is carried out on the road.

I am lucky to have a decent mapping specialist in my town - Alan Jeffrey's & they map on the rolling road & map on the road to get the best of both worlds. Although reports state Andy F is one of the top dogs mapping wise - I would always prefer my mapper to use both methods.

I would expect to pay £200 + vat for your map.

Both seem spot on as well....

There is also Jolly Green Monster (aka Simon) as well who is highly regarded. Best thing to do is contact them directly as if they are in your neck of the woods at some point it becomes less of an issue where you are based (you could even try and sort a mapping day out with others).

£200 + vat? where the hell are you getting your mapping done.

If you have a 1999 wagon that's never been touched mapping wise then its going to cost you nearer £650 + vat for your first map as you'll need to pay for the Ecutek license first time. Then subequent maps will cost you anywhere between £250 - £350. If you want an apexi you'll obviously have to pay for the ECU and the mapping. As far as I am aware andy is supplying and mapping these for around £850 + vat.

I have had both done on my MY99 I now run an Apexi power FC.

Hope that paints a clearer picture for you.

Thats about what I paid for my map at AJs on an apexi pfc. Including VAT that takes a big chunck out of £250.

apexi are become very hard to come by, they have gone bust (so i understand, but may have that wrong) but it is a very good bit of kit, will prob work out slightly more than a tek3, but if i was having mine mapped from scratch would be the route i would go.

mine was mapped by Pat herborn on scoobyclinic's rr before being road finished, and a top job he did to

Apexi ECU's are still available to the authorised dealers. Do a search and you'll see how highly regarded Paul Blamire of Zen Performance is. Also not too far from you.

I can vouch for Alan Jeffrey's, in Plymouth. Top notch. I had my P1 done there, great results 350bhp/320lbft. Very reasonable prices!

Well I went to Power Plus Engineering near Uxbridge this summer and they quote me £500 to alter the ICU settings and give another 30 Bhp, which sounded OK didn't do it but still tempted

On an existing Power FC. This guy has an unmapped MY1999 therefore either requiring the initial ecutek license and map or the purchase of the Power FC in the first place.

As for my recommendations I would say that you need to work out any future plans for the car. If the car is going to remain reasonably standard then an ECUtek remap will be ok. The power FC will be more suitable if you plan to mod the car to higher levels.

Plus Apexi haven't gone bust at all.

To confirm, Apexi have not gone bust. In a nutshell... they were involved in a 'failed venture' with a 3rd party and have basically incurred debts on that venture. But they are still trading and they are still manufacturing and will continue to do so.

Should have also added that Zen is currently running a groupbuy on the supply, fitting and mapping of the Power FC.

£695 +vat (usual price £800 +vat) Running until March 17th.

Power FCs are available for the orginal thread starters year of car, as is the EcuTeK remap of the standard ECU (which we also do.) I concur with Daz about what ECU you go for... you need an idea of what you want to achieve long term and then speak to people that you might consider for the work and go from there.

Oh Liz mate, why did you have to mention this ?
Was already tempted to get the Wagon into your place anyway. Will be intouch soon.
