Default JDM Auto Intercooler Spray?

Just thinking - could you convert the manual intercooler spray on an STI Type-UK to the auto spray that I believe the JDM STI has?

On initial thinking it should be as easy as putting, I presume, the themostatically controlled switch from the JDM system into the UK system. Is this so?

Bit of random curiosity really - but if its a simple add in job I might have a go at it.

My type ra runs water spray. I bought one of these:
eBay.co.uk: Turbo Boost Pressure Switch for Water Injection (item 260059786121 end time 30-Jan-07 18:30:46 GMT)

You can set it to spray at a preset boost level or just switch off when not needed.

The JDM new age STi water spray control is in the ecu and the switch just enables or disables it. Uk Sti rom doesn't have it.

Five different parameters have to be met for it to work. All are programmable when remapping.

Looking at the picture on this website http://www.type-25.com/images/conten.../engine_12.jpg ,the data table in the bottom left indicates the parameters to be: Coolant Temp, RPM, Boost Pressure, Vehicle Speed and Air Temp.

Perhaps Bob can advise the default values?

Best regards,

Ian

Those are the correct parameters, I'll look out the defaults next time the laptop's on, not very imaginative iirc.

Default Update-parameter values

I can now confirm from a MY07 Sti Spec C, the following values:

Coolant Temp > 80 Degrees C
Engine RPM > 4000
Boost Pressure 0.14 Bar
Vehicle Speed >188 Kmh (118MPH)
Air Inlet Temp > 20 Degrees C

The only thing I don't know is the algorthym to indicate how these are used to trigger the auto spray.

Best regards,

Ian
