Default Ah ****...

Took my i/c off today to sort out the many bent fins and replaced it but have managed to introduce a disturbing sounding high pitch whine when i accelerate.
I took off the i/c straighten the fins, fitted a tilt kit, trimmed the rubber from the scoop and replaced it all. The only thing that did happen when I replaced the hoses underneath the i/c I lost a bolt so it’s one bolt missing (2 per hose connection) until I can get another one. Could it just be the one missing bolt from the bottom of the i/c?

If I use the accelerator while the car is stationary revving the engine there is no whine, if I’m on the move regardless of speed if I hit the accelerator it whines and sounds really unhealthy.

Help!

Sounds like a leak in the 'boost' system somewhere, so more then likely that missing bolt......

When the engine is under no strain, it won't boost the same as when driving, hence no whistle when stationary....

if it sounds like a cat dying, then my friend, you have a boost leak.

since it wasnt there b4, there is only 2 places it can be, turbo to I/C, or I/C to manifold take it off and try again with 2 people... if the hose gives you trouble, try soap and water(very little) and she should slip right on

Cheers guys , fixed .

Took it all off again, cut down a longer bolt for the missing one and put a bead of pipe sealant on the underneath of the i/c as well where the two connections are made from the hose. Made sure the i/c to turbo and i/c to manifold hose connections were nice and tight as well.

Spot on
