Phase 1 inlet has better flow characteristics where as Sti Manifold has better low down tq there is a comparison on 22b.com . Injector rails are different on the two phase 1 being side feed and Sti being top feed there for the rails are not inter changeable Although the injectors are.

STI2 and 95uk inlet manifolds are both the same, except one is sometimes red.

Because people get fed all sorts of info. The only red v2 manifold I've seen was on a 4door STI 2 RA with roof vent. A few of the v2 RA inlet manifolds I've seen, with the 5th injector boss, have also been CNC profiled where they meet the heads, and have a smoother interior.

For early cars, people often pay to upgrade to a v3/4 manifold to allow for a turbo inlet hose under the manifold. But these are the same as their UK conterparts, but once again they are painted red. Seeing as you can pay £75 on an exchange basis to have a freshly painted manifold in red wrinkle paint, I would just do that if you're after a nice red manifold.
