did you replace the spring on the top of the fork?

you can adjust the play in the pedal if you look above the pedal there is a bar whcih goes into the master cylinder.. iirc a 6mm spanner groove on the bar and a 10mm spanner on the lock nut.. about 2~3cm of free play on the top of the pedal is about right.. but cannot remember the exact book free play.

It probably not this, but dont forget to check the simple things ... like the pedal could be catching on the floor mat (if there's one there of course).

I had the same problem when my car had a full engien reulitd from Subaru....

I had the clutch fitted 2000 miles prior, They re bult teh engine and then the cars pedal wouldnt coem back up, they said that the clutch was burnt out!!! Its defo not and i had to pay £650 to get the car back, I think they damaged the relise bearing, ongoing disput and investingation, be intrested to se ehwo you get on with this as mine was the same, new clutch and it fixed it, well they replace devery thing at my expence
