Default lightened and balanced flywheels????

by replacing the standard flywheel with a lightened and balanced flywheel, i understand that acceleration will be improved BUT! will this affect max. bhp/torque levels of the engine as reducing the weight will reduce momentum?

Just had one fitted, if anything bhp will improve as the engine has to drag less weight around.

Unless you go for one of the untralight ones your drivablity or idling wont be affected at all.

pulling away at first can be a little "different" but nothing you done get used to within 5 mins of driving

a lightened and balanced flywheel will help transfer the power from the engine to the wheels more efficiently

Default Idling problems with a lightened flywheel

If you go for a really light flywheel then the engine might tend to hunt for idle RPM.

Obviously not an issue with an aftermarket ECU like an Apexi wjhere you can set the idle RPM etc. (think mine is set slightly high to avoid hunting)

cheers peeps, my idling does seem to bit a bit varied now, anywhere from 850rpm upto 1100rpm, think it depends if it is in a bad mood or not LOL! gunna see if i can get it sorted!

You may also loose abit of engine brakeing with a lightened flywheel, i did with mine, but thats easily compensated for.
