Default Re-map question

I have just had a engine built from API which recommend hving the ECU remapped once completed, i have a 96 classic import and have bben told that my ECU isnt re-mappable. Is this true? do i have to buy a new one or can it be piggy backed like some talk about?

Anyone got any rough prices of these and places in the North East where i could get it done. I just checking as ive had a big engine bill and dont want it to happen again

Thanks

ESL have a live mapping option of the OE ECU through a number of agents around the country, ourselves included; alternative replacement options are the Apexi Power FC (in short supply), Autronic, GEMS, Hydra, Motec and Sigma.
