Default How much to fit and map an apexi FC Commander privately?

I can get the unit for around £400 but i'm told a good mapping place would charge £400 to map it!! I've been with someone who had a "stand alone ECU" and went in the car with him. On a private road of course! . It only took an hour to map it!
Any private people out there who are good and don't rip you off! ??

Who told you £400?
Why don't you get the person you went out with to map it?
Speak to jollygreenmonster (to name 1 mapper)on here he charges but nowhere near £400.
I suppose if you're good at understanding the software you could do it yourself

You can pm jollygreenmonster on here or go to Jolly Green Monster - ECU Mapping.
Like i said he is but one of the many good Apexi mappers on here.
(i won't post prices on here as its best if you deal with them on a 1 to 1 basis)

I had mine mapped for £250. He is highly recomended and has a great reputation.
Where are you located??
People will have a better idea of who where you can have this done.

Red face

I'm in the warickshire area but willing to travel to get it done by the right person.
Just spoke to Scoobymania. Fekin Ell! They told me Apexi Fc are crap and the boost can not be altered??
Then told me for a Gems ecu fitted and mapped would cost £1500!! And a Sigma would be £900 all in!
So much conflicting evidence, perhaps i should have stuck to bikes!!

Paul Balmire is in Northamptonshire. Google 'Zen Performance': Im sure he will be closer to £250 than £400 also...

Forgot to add that an Apexi PFC are very good at what they do, sounds like that place you spoke to were trying to put you off so you'd spend more cash on a more expensive ECU

I can put you in touch with the guy that mapped mine. He can supply the PFC and map it for around £750, if your willing to travel to Lancs??

He posts on this site as "AndrewC" if you want to PM him.

Hope you can get it sorted.

I'm going to TEG Motorsport / Steve Simpson for my mapping, paying what you'd pay for a 'private' mapper + RR before / after + road time in the price as well.

Sounds like scoobymania were pulling your pud there. Must've needed to shift some other ECUs.

That's not what I said. I told you that you would need an additional boost controller on the earlier Apexi and this is correct (if you want to run more than 1 bar of boost).

I offered some better (in our opinion) alternatives. With Sigma now being a "better" alternative than the GEMS and their relevant prices. Both of the ECU's I suggested are far more capable out of the box than the power FC. They also don't need any expensive additional "add-ons" to make them work correctly.

Those prices are plus VAT, not "all in" but include fitting and mapping on a 4WD Rolling Road (then on the road), with before and after graphs.

The Apexi Power FC is a relatively cheap stand alone unit and a good step up to a mappable ECU. Boost control is limitted which is why many people, especially with bigger turbos run a PFC plus electronic boost controller such as Apexi AVC-R. You will also find Apexi Power FCs running with Dawes Devices or other bleed valves to control boost.
For a little more money you could have a Sigma ECU which includes very reliable boost control so there is no expense in a secondary boost control device. In fact, the Sigma operates in closed loop boost amongst its many features and anti-lag is a cost option if you are into that sort of thing.

Just to add, £940 inclusive of VAT for the Sigma including a before and after Rolling Road run showing bhp, torque, AFR and boost profile. Mapping takes place, initially, on the rollers with real road testing and adjustments afterwards if required.

Running 1.5 bar boost with Apexi without additional boost control on one car and 1.4 on another. Why would additional boost control be needed?

That is incorrect, you do not need an additional boost controller, just a sensor.

I do not agree. Boost control on the Power Fc is very capable, limited only by the OE map sensor which reads over 1.7 bar on 97- cars. 93-97 cars are easily and cheaply upgraded to this spec.

The Apexi Power FC also operates in closed loop boost control and can be set up to have 4 boost settings which are adjustable by the driver from the FC commander handset display in the car.
