oil temp problem?
Hi all just after a bit of advice really, just got my new scooby and noticed to day on the way home that the oil temp gauge is flicking about all the time and also kept on flicking about and rising to 140d even given how cold it is at the moment!driven of boost made no odds still kept rising?now given all this flicking about it dose im hopeing (praying)some one will say that will be the gauge or sender is bust?and not some thing worse wrong!and the gauge is a defi 52mm gauge. all the other ones are fine 3x 60mm gauges and 3x 52mm gauges. any ideas welcome

I'd check the wire to the sender too. The sender may be in a sandwich plate between oil filter and block, or in a tapped hole on top of No3 cylinder, which is the rearmost driver's side.
Either way, the wiring goes near a few hot, and a few moving bits, so could have become damaged.
Next, check the rear of the control box where the sender wire plugs into it's socket, look for loose, distressed or disturbed connectors.
Also, check the little plug on the rear of the gauge which carries the signal to the gauge from either the control box, or another gauge via a "daisy chain". The little plugs can become dislodged, or make poor connection if disturbed due to leads dropping out of the plastic connector block.
