Bodywork repairs and anti-corrosion warranties
A friend of mine bought a new mini a few weeks ago, and some git keyed it at the weekend. The scratch is on one panel only, hasn't penetrated to the metal or dented the panel, but the dealer reckons they need to repaint the whole side of the car to blend the repair in, at a cost of £450.
He also asked them if using a scratch repair service was an option and they basically told him he would void his anti-corrosion warranty if he didn't use an authorised dealer to fix the scratch. He's going to check the wording of the warranty, but is this right - fair enough if the repair itself starts to corrode, but to invalidate the warranty full-stop seems like sharp practise?

I'm in the process of a similar thing - I had a circular saw fall on the wing of my scoob - real bad dent needs a new wing - either way all quotes I've had are to blend into the bonet / bumper and front door - circa 450.

You will always need to blend if you are replacing a panel. The bonnet and bumper seems a bit excessive on the scoob though. The door is a must. The pigment of the paint is the problem. You could paint two panels with the same tin of paint on two different days and get a slightly different shade cos of gun pressure, temp, viscocity etc etc......
The mini would have to be done at a main dealer to keep its warrenty or at an accident repair centre that will give you a 3 year warrenty.
Painting the full side is a bit harsh though. a small local blend could be surfice.
What colour is it??
If, like you say, it hasnt broken the paint then it should be able to be flatted and polished out.
Get up to Hull...I'm good and very cheap if its pound notes!!!
