Exclamation advice needed

hi guys

car 97 uk impreza turbo.
having problems occasionally when foot to floor in gears 2-5 at various revs a complete loss of power very violantly and as soon as foot off accelorator car seems normal again.

i've also noticed that when gently accelerating i can feel the power coming through and slight surges. does anyone know what this could be???

i have been told it could be the air flow meter. subaru gave me a part number of s22680aa280. would any other air flow meter be compatible if this is the problem???

any suggestions would be appreciated!!! thanks

Possibly fuel cut being activated due to overboosting.

I have read someone elses post which looks to describe the same problem, Calling it hesitation. He cleaned the boost solenoid out.
Is this the same problem / cure?

What do yous reckon?

I thought that fuel cut came in higher for MY97 onwards cars and 1.1bar for MY93-96 cars?

Can't be 16 psi as remaps can take the car to 1.4 bar with the appropriate turbo and injectors. You'd still hit fuel cut wouldn't you?

Anyway 1.1bar is 16psi.
