I've used Optimax then V-power or Tescos 99 ron for the last 3 years and my car (93 wrx) runs fine with no OB.
Some people have mentioned on here that when the early imprezas (early 90s)were launched in Japan 100RON fuel didn't exist.
I'm guessing you have the standard ecu in it (underneath a metal plate in the passenger footwell)?

All fairly standard impreza's will be fine on V-Power.

As stated, 100 ron fuel wasn't the norm when the early impreza's were introduced. Early cars are also quite capable of retarding the ignition if they sense any det issues related to poor fuel quality.

might want to re-set the ECU when you stop using it.
