CV joint has fixed itself
Story so far:
Inner drivers side CV boot split and it got washed in rainny weather for a few miles.
Add greese and put on a new boot.
A few 100 miles later the tell tail noise started that the CV joint was on its way out, ie clicking on full lock.
now the noise has gone away
Is it about to let go completely ? or might I have simply ground any dirt in there to dust and the power of Subaru has won in the paper rock sissor game ?

The clicking is actually the worn parts just moving against each other and on full lock this is the maximum load you can give the joint and so makes it shows up the clicking more. So if its not clicking on full lock now, I reckon the grease has managed to find its way into all the right places, could well last a good while before it starts to click again.
How worn did it look when you put the new gaitor on?
