when resetting ecu, is it better to do it via jumper links, or is same achieved by disconneting battery?

When you reset with the leads any faults codes will be displayed on the dash in the form of dots and dashes that relate to a fault code. Disconnecting the battery eg. overnight will just clear the ECU. If you suspect something is a miss then use the leads to find the fault code, if you just need to clear the ECU because normal unleaded has been used for example then overnight disconnection should work fine.
