Default 2.5 or 3" bore exhaust?

Is it preferable to get the 3" bore on an exhaust ? what are the 2.5" bores like, is there much difference in power ?

2.5 is fine for most but will start to restrict power at 350 bhp ish before that there will be negligible difference i think.

I'm hoping to get over 400bhp on my 2.5" system. I'll let you know how I get on.
