Default Twin fuel pumps, how and why?

As title, what is the actual advantake to running 2? do they work in parallel? or is one a back up for the other should it fail?

I presume that this would be a custom job to do anyway but im just curious as to the actual benefit?

Also, for a reliable 450 is a 255lt p/h still man enough for the job?

Don't make things unnecessarily complicated.
A single Walbro 341 255 lph will run 450 bhp OK. A single Bosche 044 will run a good bit more than that, on standard fuel rails.
