I've narrowed it down to a TomTom Go 510 (£250) or a Garmin nuvi 610T (£300) or a Garmin nuvi 660 (£400).
Is it worth paying extra for one of the Garmins?

tbh most people i know use the tomtom and considering it st the cheaper system should be the best bet.

I bought a pocket PC and installed Tom Tom onto it.
I can then use it for other things too.
I can use other country maps etc not just UK, just buy swapping the memory card with the maps on it.
Good luck if you haven't already bought you new gadget.

damn sorry this is late but I would have gone for the Navman F20 European as you not only get the UK maps but you get all of west europe too & it only costs £150 which blows most other satnavs out of the water.
If you want to buy new maps USA £99 other countries are £49 or £99 depending on where they are.
