manufacturers bhp meaning?
My 95wrx is given as 260 bhp. Excuse my ignorance but I see on some threads that you have bhp at the wheels or at the flywheel and one reading is less than the other. What exactly is the difference between the two and how do the manufacturers state the bhp of the vehicle, wheels or flywheel?
Just interested so I can argue the toss in the pub.
Thanks. Jamie

Normally they state it from the flywheel (mainly because its higher lol). I think this is measured with the engine in a test out of the car(?) Wheel HP is the power put down at the wheels, there is a fair amount (around 25% ???) lost in the transmission and gearbox...
hope this helps, someone else will confirm this..

Also, your MY95 WRX is 260ps, 256bhp - on 100RON fuel. So you probably have about 250bhp on 98RON V-Power.
My old scoob was a MY95 WRX, fully decatted with a Green panel filter.
Pants dyno it felt about the same as my MY00 does now with 273bhp.
So a MY95 WRX with a full decat roughly has about 270ish bhp.
Not exactly scientific, but there we go
