Default De-Limiting A Classic Import

Hmm

I'm not in a hurry to change from KPH to MPH but as the RA is intended as a track tool, I guess I will one day.

Anyway, I'm off to Oulton Park in 10 days (YEAH ) but no budget to pay for the kit.

I notice that it is a mechanical device and it down-gears the cable sending info to the speedo so as to read MPH not KPH

At the moment, once the speedo reads 180 KPH, it cuts boost.

Therefore, can I read it that if I were to disconnect the speedo cable at teh gearbox that this would "de-limit" the car?

Obviously I'm not going to do this on the open road (car will be trailered there) & there is a chance I won't reach 112 MPH @ OP but if I did, it would be nice to not be overtaken by the chaps I've just caned out the corners lol

So, what is the situation please?

I think you'll find that it will throw up a fault if you disconnect the speedo.
The speedo kits are around 60 ish for a mechanical or 40 for an electrical converter (they were when i was in the trade anyway)
Mechanical is a bit fiddly but easy enough

Not only a CEL but also something like a 4000rpm rev limit... and 0.5bar boost... (I had a speedo cable fail on my v2 STi once!) best leave the speedo connected! Just get PSLewis to give you some driving tips, you'll never get near 112mph ;-)
