If you have one duff lead or spark plug. It will affect both cylinders thats on the same coil (The ignition system uses double ended coils i.e 1 coil works 2 cylinders)..thus 1 duff lead/plug = two duff cylinders.
You wouldn't belive how many people swap coil packs when it was a duff lead at fault.

That coilpack in the in the middle on top of the engine contains 2 coils, 1 for two cylinders (it works on the wasted spark principal).
Borrows some plugs and leads off car that is known to to be good

or try swapping leads from left to right and see if the problem moves..
Are you sure there is no spark rather than something else.. mine did similar which turned out to be the cam belt had jumped two teeth.

Well that's pretty much everything barring wiring loom and connectors, the main one to the left side of the inlet manifold is good place to start .
Don't ask me pins and wire colours as I don't have them

Glad you got there in the end. Lost a coil pack on my bugeye (1 per cylinder). It was a bit of a swine finding the faulty item. Plugs changed etc got there in the end then the feeling you have now when I fitted the new coil pack and all was sorted.
