Default Sti 4 blown engine.. what to do?

Hi
I have a Sti version 4 1998, with the bottom end gone, how can i get my car back on the road easliy?
ie new engine
second hand sti 4
or will a sti 5 fit?

I can do the work myself so please anyone with some knowledge please post!

Strip down the original block to inspect and see what the damage is.

May only need a new crank and the odd rod

Ok i was thinking of doing that to start with,
off the top of your head whats the price of a crank and rod?

Import car parts sell genuine cranks for £375, and rods for £48. You'll need bearings and a gasket set too.

Puting a ver 5 in a ver 4 is not straightforward.
Stick with a ver 3 or 4 for your car.
You could get a price and delivery from API Engines and Roger Clark Motorsport to name but two.
If you rebuild your own engine then you know what you have.
You may also want to investigate the cost of a 2.5 short engine on to which your existing heads and ancillaries will fit. If you want a 2.5 widen your enquiry to include Scoobymania.

im gonna have to do some investigation before i decide to do anything ese
thats hope its just the crank
