Default Venom injectors

Hello, I'm getting my EJ20G/Power FC tuned in a few weeks and I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the injectors. I found a set of Venom 660cc sidefeed replacements on eBay (very hard to find upgraded sidefeeds in the US without spending tons of money on SARDs imported from Japan) and they came with a one year warranty on the flow rates, so I figured what the hell? and bought them.

Does anyone have any experience with Venom injectors? Before buying them, I had heard good things about them on Hondas and Toyotas and mixed things about them on Subarus. Before I install them, I'm going to replace the O-ring with an OEM O-ring and get them cleaned and flow tested to make sure they're within spec. I just read that someone bought a set of Venoms one injector was off by 22%, which is troubling (funny how I always manage to find all of the negative things AFTER making the purchase) . But since they're under warranty, I figure if they're off, I'll just send them back.

Thoughts?

If you're getting them flow tested you have nothing to worry about, like you say if they're off you send them back. I presume your car was built between MY92-98?

Idle is horrible on these.. be interested to hear how they are after the flow testing.. but at low pulse like on idle they have been horrible on several sets and end up with a lumpy idle.. driving they were fine.

They're re-pindled STi pinks, I believe.

Heh, alright, forget it then. I'm going to get a set of of 555 cc SARDs and not worry about getting them flow tested and/or blowing up my motor.

1996 Jap. EJ20G.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

Well I wouldn't know I ordered and paid for 3 sets for evaluation purposes over 6 months ago now. I was fobbed off with all sorts of 'lost in post' 'returned' 'someone signed for them' type excuses. I still have not managed to get my money back This was from user TFS Supra (or similar) ebay name.

I had no issue with delivery.. I was watching a set on ebay going back some 18months now.. and they ended before I decided whether to try or not.. so emailed the guy and he seemed reasonable and I paid for them and they arrived within a week.. they were perfect except for idle on my own car, but I have since replaced them with nismos.
I have also mapped 3 other cars that people have fitted them on.. the lumpy idle just not to anyones liking really. Shame really.

Jolly, would getting the Power FC tuned fix the problem with the idle or is it a design problem?

it's a design problem.. each injector at idle injects different amounts of fuel so it is impossible to get a smooth idle. If I tweaked the idle rich it was better.. but still lumpy.

Christ, are these "phase one" injectors? I have a '96 JDM WRX. Will these even fit?

Anyone know where to get OEM o-rings? Is that something a dealership would have? I'm a bit leery about taking them off the old injectors and swapping them onto the new injectors.

I think the set's of 'o' rings from B&Q are the same size. I know RobEvo5 used them after he pinched/damaged a couple.

I just had these pieces of **** flow tested and needless to say the results were atrocious. They flowed at 752, 700, 600 and 653 cc but the tech said the flow was so erratic he couldn't get a precise figure -- and these were brand new injectors.

Yeah, I'm going to get my money back. What a waste of time.

DO NOT BUY VENOM INJECTORS!
