Lets fit some gauges!
Just got hold of the famous 3 (boost, oil pressure & oil temp)
After finding out that most places charge between £150-200 I thought sod that I'll fit em myself!
Ok boost easy enuf just get a 'T' piece and feed it into the pipe off the back of the BOV right??
Oil pressure I've heard of these OIL PRESSURE SENDER ADAPTOR and they look the part. Oil pressure switch is way down under the header tank right? Is that where this device fits in??
Oil temp... I've heard tell of a sandwich plate - however its only for 03 onwards? I have an 02 so how do I go about connecting up an oil temp feed??
Hope someone can help answer my questions

On a classic the oil pressure sensor is located behind the alternator:
Its where the braided hose runs to in the above pic.
Sandwich plate adaptor is suitable for all years IIRC, fits between the block and oil filter.
Available from Revolution and Scoobyworld

Thanks Micky, I see... and is that braded pipe an adaptor like the one from the link I posted to do with the oil pressure??
Just found this oil temp sender adaptor on that same site, but you say that places like Revolution will do sandwich plates for all years?

If you fit the oil temp and pressure separately, then theres 2 areas to look at.
The oil pressure simply replaces the original sender under the alternator, cable tie the OE lead to one side and this doesn't throw up a CEL.
Above the No3 cylinder, near the turbo under the ic, you'll see a plug that houses a 8mm allen head.
This is a b@stard to remove without a 8mm allen socket or T bar.
(I used a long allen key and 2 adjustable spanners as handles clamped down tight)
You'll need an adaptor such as LMA067 to fit the oil temp sender.

I've run both the oe oil sender (which is under the alternator - bit tight on fitting with 2.5L block for some reason) and a T so I can have two forms of reading oil pressure...one with dash warning light...worth keeping!
Suggest use PTFE tape when fitting the T or the sensor connector just so you get a perm fitting that doesn't need work/repair later as oil is a slippy thing.
Also suggest the oil temp sensor be fitted to access point on number 3 cylinder (as per alot of SNet topics), it gives you best idea of what engine oil temps are...

Superb price! I asked smudga but he wants to do it the separate way... WHY? Is that better... do you get more accurate readings??
Either way I'm sticking with the sandwich plate! Mite be a silly question, but do you know if the sandwich plate you've got will fit a Skyline R33 GT-S?
