Question

Chaps..

I have an STI 4 that has just started growing a nice little crack across the drivers portion of the screen..

whats the routine about replacing the windscreen ??

Can I use a UK version as a replacement ?
Can I use someone like Autoglass etc etc ?
Does it have to be a imported screen ??

What experience has anybody had with this ??

Cheers for your help !!

I think it depends on the tint colour of your windscreen. My import WRX has a bronze tint which AFAIK is not available on UK models. I used Silvershield who seem to have a ready supply of import screens somewhere, although it took 5 attempts to get one that wasn't cracked (someone in the warehouse had knocked the pallet with a fork lift!). Also make sure they replace all the trim fixing studs (which are almost impossible to get out without breaking) I found only two in my bottom trim (should be about 8) after they had finished

Good luck!

Nigel, you must have been lucky, it is damn hard to find the amber tint for the Subarus, I have got a nice green tint in mine now, I was told that no one could source the amber tints here.

I used Silver shield when mine cracked, i know it depends who answers the phone but they knew all the tints available and had the bronze screen for my WRX in stock.
Ensure that the fitter has some experience as the trim around the screen is a bitch to remove without breaking.
