STI9 crank in P1 block?
Hi there, just a bit of quick advice please. Would the STI9 crank fit in the P1/STI5 block without additional machining to the block?
I understand that there are Phase 1 & phase 2 engines but not sure where the change happened.

I have an Sti 5 and had an engine rebuild done by Zen Performance, they fitted an Sti 9 crank to my block, no problem. Give them a ring for advice.
Hope this helps.

straight forward fit, crank thrust bearing changed from centre to rear around 97-98...............done loads of these as it offers a very good crank without the aftermarket costs invovled...........

Great topic, my bigends have just gone on my V5 wagon which is the Phase 2 engine as in P1, so looking at exacty the same idea. Rebuilding mine with STi 8/9 crank. What pistons would someone recommend instead of putting the standard STi ones back, thinking they ay be the weak link somewhere down the line if I put them back in

Smiles, speak to Mark, 0208420544 for advice on pistons or rods etc, or try Zen, RCMS, etc.

I am also weighing up the cost to use a 2.5 instead of rebuilding my one
