Just stick with the standard airbox and pop a K&N panel filter in.
I've heard that inductions kits could damage your MAF, which could lead to engine and or turbo failiure, but saying that...
Ive had no problems at all with my hks mushroom!

Cheers for that

i dont see how more air volume running past a mass air flow meter/sensor could damage it though. yes there will be a greater flow through the meter but no other/new gasses are being added hummm....

or could it be if the induction kit is sucking in hot air from the engine or gasses that are released to atmosphere through a dump valve. i suppose that could damage it hummmm.... what about an enclosed system?

can you get enclosed induction kits for a scooby?

I have an apexi power intake on my 93 wrx and a £5 bit of aluminium to seperate it from the engine bay just haven't done it yet.
If you do get an IK or better panel filter make sure it isn't oiled as this f**k your MAF up.
K+N is supposed to be good as well

earlier maf's tend to be more robust than the 99/00 versions that do suffer bably from oiled air filters...... the main problem with induction kits is the fact that hot engine bay air is sucked in and this is not good for power or reliability on a turbo car where the incoming air is heated anyway by the turbo, the more cooler it is befor eit reaches the turbo the better, standard airbox is not restrictive until circa 350 bhp anyway,so unless you are running a fmic and cannot use the standard airbox there is not really any need for an induction kit,use a performance filter like a k+n or green and you will be better off
