Default 1000bhp scooby

ok ok, its not about a 1000bhp scooby, but at least you looked at the post, sorry for the gag, but the first post title got no response, and i heard scoobynet was the best place to ask technical questions..please don't prove me wrong!

A mate has been borrowing a scooby while back from oz, he's been driving it real careful, ahem. He's due to fly back out to OZ tomorrow but the scooby has been playing up a little and he's worried he's croaked the engine, luckily he's getting high oil pressure not low, so its not likely to be a starved 3rd main bearing. But ovbiously he wants to hand back his freinds pride and joy the way he found it, - a couple of mm of tyre tread

Today he noticed the car has very high oil pressure, and it hits the top end of the scale when blipped. it settles on a normalish 30 at idle, but as soon as he touches the throttle it goes right to the top end of the guage.

Any ideas what this might be oh great experts of the boxer engine?

yours humbly,

some one not likely to own a scoobie in the near future.

Its high on start up, and goes to 100 (top of the scale ) with slight throttle application, drops to 30 when warm but the needle hits the top when you apply throttle.

oil pressure release valve? oil pressure sender?

any ideas.
cheers

Justin.
