standard boost 18 psi ???
ive just fitted a boost gauge to a 1995 wrx and when on full boost it reads about 18 psi. is this correct?
i used a T piecs to connect to the middle of the 3 vaccume hoses on the manifold.
would a air filter and exhaust effect boost?

If there's no visual boost upgrade mods (bleed vlave, boost controller, FCD etc) Then you've probably got a module in the ECU which is giving the increase.
Had a similar thing when I put a gauge on a friend's 95 wrx (which felt suspicously nippy for std) Opened the ecu up to find a Jap module in.

Has it got a bleed valve or a mechanical boost controller fitted between the turbo outlet nipple and the actuator ?
It would also need a fuel cut lifter/defender to go above the 1bar fuel cut limit of the standard ecu.
It should also have a Z4 ECU.
