High pitched noise on Jap import
Hi, i am new to this site and this is my first post.
I am about to purchase a Jap import Impreza on an M plate the car has 49,000
on the clock, i am very happy with the car except for one thing, when the ignition is turned on there is a high pitched noise that can be heard quite clearly it is also present when the engine is running. The dealer Jap Performance in Bradford says it is caused by "The High pitch noise as far as i'm aware is the Alternator Bearing or
A/C Compressor bearing. This does not effect the drive or performance in
anyway niether can cause any damage" is this correct and if so is it easy to correct or is it something i should avoid?

I think they may be true at J.P. as mine was making the same kinda noise, it won't be the engine most likely aircon unit, its not a big concern.
you certainly selected the right dealership in Yorkshire, i too purchased my scooby from here touch wood is running sweet.

As above - The one thing you should do when buying a scoob is walk away when there is anything you aren't happy about.
If I were you, I would tell him to fix it so it doesn't the noise anymore by replacing the Alternator or AC unit - and he will have a sale.

If it's making sounds you dont hear from another scooby, there should be a cure and at their cost not yours. Walk away if you not happy.
