Is there any difference between an my1998 uk turbo intercooler and an sti type ra 1998 intercooler if so what are they? ,and will it bring any gains? ,will it be an easy swap ?

yes there is a massive difference if someone is offering you a swap with an sti type ra one i would ****** thier hand off and give them at least £500 aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!!
