Is their a way of telling by engine numbers? which version of tappets ive got its a my94wrx classic import,

many thanks simon theirs a slight chatter from them i think so will try a oil change been advised against engine flush is this right as may losen carbon that has built up over the years clogging other oil ways?

Yeah don't use engine flush!
My previous engine which had hydraulic tappets was noisy at 100k miles..
Motul 300v Competition 15W50 silenced the noise and it was still quiet when i removed the engine at 186,900miles after getting bored waiting for it to die and had built a replacement engine by then.
