Default Knocklink versus Knock Correction

I recently posted for advise about knocklinks because I'm thinking of buying one. However I already have a PSI3 Data Monitor that obviously tells me about the degrees of knock correction occuring.

What's the similarity or difference between the knock correction values that the data monitor is showing (it's always a positive value between 0 and about 10) and the amber/red LED's on a knocklink?

(I also have another data monitor question - is a lambda reading of 0.76 ok under hard acceleration?)

Thanks

Knock correction uses a knock sensor in the same way as the knocklink. How sensitive and how accurate a knocklink is can vary.
Sometimes on the dyno the knock correction is more sensitive than your ears, occasionally you hear knock before the knock correction does..
Utilising both the knock correction and your ears you can "make sure it's safe".
0.76.. rich.

The knock correction on the new age PSi3 is not "knock correction" but the value of the compensation map used, if a GC8 it is knock retard/advance, although I am slightly more than suspicious the displayed value is actualy the fine learning going on.

There is no correlation between what is shown as "knock correction" on a new age and the knocklinks visual antics. As Andy mentions what ypu see is very much dependant on the engine its attached to and needs to be correlated with det cans for accuracy. Leave on max sensitivity if thats not possible.

cheers

Thanks Andy/Bob,

So in short, don't rely on what the PSI3 is telling me - so if I want to know if knock is occurring buy a knocklink....

(not saying I suspect it is Andy, but better safe than sorry now that I've push up the power quite a bit from standard).

Anyone recommend a good one (preferably from somewhere that can also fit it)?

Edit: Hi Bob, just looked at your website - YHPM.
