Default STi V5 issue

Hi

I am thinking of selling my MY98 WRX STi V5, it has been in the UK since it was new.
Someone is interested but slightly worried as the V5 states IMPREZA WRX so no mention of the STi. I put this down to the DVLA as I heard there are many descrepancies with imported cars. Id there anything on the VIN plate etc that will prove that its a genuine STi? It has all the correct badges, engine bay etc etc.

Take a note of the model code of the chasis plate and check against the sidc faq section. It should confirm the model of your car.

http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm#1.2

It s not uncommon for imported cars to have been classed as GL WRX when infact it is / was an STI varient.

Regards

Esh

Thats the code for a version 4. V5 is GC8F4ED. This should be on a plate under the bonnet, next to the suspension turet.

P.s. Your car may have been manufactured in 98. But the model year runs from sept98 to aug99. So Version 5`s Are classed as MY99 cars even if they were made in 98.

Thumbs up

April 98 would make it a version 4. Version 5 was sept on. Like already said, only real way of knowing is by checking the vin plate.
Ver 4 = GC8E4ED
Ver 5 = GC8F4ED.
Think you`ll have to wait for the other half to get home to find out for sure.
