Default high idle

hope someone can help me here , have a my98 type r, only mods exhaust and apexi afc and boost controller. short journey home today bout twenty minutes, hit traffic after a free dual carriageway (max speed 70mph) and when i stopped in traffic revs were sitting between 1000 and 1100 and wouldnt drop back down to 700. got home and turned car off for some time to let it cool and drove again later, again revs sitting up at app. 1100, then suddenly dropped to normal and no bother, parked up car and left on turbo time (its built into clifford alarm) and suddenly revs started to rise again. i know its a long winded story but can anyone shed light on what might cause this??? please help getting worried now!!!!! cheers

Could be a sticking ICV, disconnect it whilst it's idling high, no change means it could be stuck.

Don't know if it's the same as a pre-lift model, mine's MY95 and it's to the right of the TB as you look in.
