Default Are 19inch Wheels to Big??

Hi ya,

Would like to hear some opinions on if 19inch wheels are a good or bad choice for an Ver8 STi with PPP.

Every Scooby I've seen in mags or online seems to have 18's on them.

The reason I ask is that I recently bought an STi and it has 19inch alloys with Toyo rubber. What do you think the risks are of loss of grip on wet or slippy road surfaces?

I was once told that although larger wheels/tyres increase grip in the dry they can also increase the chances of sliding when it's wet or slippy as the footprint on the road in larger.

What are your thoughts on this?

Look forward to reading any replys.

Cheers, Paul.

19 is to big mate, the optimum size for upgrading but still keeping relatively good handling characteristics is 17 inch and if you aint bothered about ride and handling only looks go for 18's

Thanks for that wrxsti, that would go some way to explaining why it lost grip on a damp new road and spun on me then. I wasn't convinced it should have 19's and I think my suspicions are right... time to flog the remaining 3 and downsize me thinks. (3 you ask... had a bit of a bump is why and yes it was an 'Ouch' moment lol).
