Default HKS SSQV

Hi, I’m after some help and or advice.

I have just bought a second hand HKS SSQV for my 2004 Impreza. I fitted it to my car no problems, but when I drove the car to test it the valve fails to open (dump). I previously fitted a VTA valve to the car which worked fine so I’m fairly confident that it’s fitted correctly.

I contacted the bloke that I bought it from but unfortunately he says that he never fitted to his car so cannot confirm that it worked.

I have tried the spring adjuster at both the tightest and softest position but this didn’t make any difference.

It is possible to manually push the valve open so it has not seized (well at least not fully). I have compared the force required to push the valve open with another HKS valve fitted to a friends Supra and they seem to be the same.

It was suggested that the internal diaphragm may be damaged so I carefully took the valve apart and checked it. The diaphragm appears to be fine with no sign of any wear or damage.

I have now run out of ideas so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
