More power please
Hi Guy's
Loving my 53 WRX but need a bit of a boost - would really like approx 280BHp and plently of torque, but have to have a reliable and useable every day car
I am about to book in for a remap and full H&S Exhuast system @ prosport in Stockport
What else could i do without getting silly? have thought about panel filter and STi intercooler to help with the air flow -
ideas please
thanks guys
Jim
BTW Big Brakes - already done and well worth the expense !!!!!!!!!!

cheers Mate,
Do you really think i will get 280? i thought I would be more like 260ish,
I am going to have wait untill after payday to get mine done, so the feedback would be great
is yours going to prosport?
Cheers

Well mine is a 53 WRX and with PPP currently fitted produces 265 on a good day and 250 on a bad day. With H&S Sport decat and ECUTek remap, it should get nearer to 285. I know someone who has this setup and has reached 295 in winter. I'm expecting somewhere near 280. The main thing is the car will have much more torque, and that's the important thing. Should be good. Mine is going to Prosport, they already have the car and I'll find out the difference tomorrow afternoon.
Regards,

STI Intercooler
APS Intercooler Splitter (to keep the WRX scoop)
Green Cotton Panel Filter
H & S Up Pipe
Magnex Unequal Headers
TSL Thundercat Downpipe
TSL Centre Section
H & S Jap Style Back Box
Walbro Fuel Pump
FSE Fuel Regulator
TD04 Hybrid (Turbo Andy F)
Remap (Andy F)
It made 306bhp/293lb/ft on a warm day. It has been 100% reliable for the 6 months the mods have been done and is a daily driver. I'm over the moon with the difference over standard.

If you only want 280, stick with the exhaust, fuel pump, turbo hoses and intercooler mods, then a remap by a reputable expert.

Cheers for the advice guys
I did think i would only get 280 with the budget i had although your posts indicate i may be able to get closer to 300 without a huge expense. my main concern is i only want to be doing this once, I can't afford to keep remapping everythime i add another part - who can!
After reading NS04's epic post this is what i think i may do -
H&S Full sports DECAT and Back Box
STI Filter
WAlbro Fuel Pump
Sti Intercooler (will this fit my 53 WRX without mods?)
Full EcuTek remap
Magnex headers
I reckon this could get me 280+ and loads of lovely torque, although i would also consider a bigger turbo, what would you recommend for my car and has anyone got an approx cost???
Thanks again
Jim
BTW my approx budget is 1500 - 2000 + ish

I can comment on RLE's car, goes like fvck with the 18g, ecutek3 remap, Headers, exhaust (Obviously his is an STI) etc
Read RLE's review

there no need to go that extreme turbowise, the formal weapons of choice are the VF34/35 and the TD05-16g to get yourself safely over 300 but not too much.
The other option is one of Andys TD04 Hybrids which will also do the job.
If i were you though, i would stick with the TD04, as otherwise youll also need to upgrade the injectors too, which will be another few 100 quid if you buy new. Your 380s will be running at near max by 290 or so so 280 is fine on them

cheers mate, as you may guess i don't have any technical knowledge so all info is very welcome - think the turbo may be a step too far for my needs although it would be great!
BTW the Walbro fuel pump is that the 255 you see for sale on various websites?
Cheers

jimbo - even though I agree that you should try and get as much of it done in one go as possible before the remap, it's worth keeping in mind that once you have purchased your ecutek license (part of the cost of your first remap), you should pay a substantially smaller fee for any subsequent remaps (particularly with the same mapper).
As an example, I paid about £550 plus VAT for my first remap at Powerstation and am going back on the 24th for fitment of a full decat system and another remap. The cost of this remap will only be charged at the hourly rate for the dyno, £90/hour.

Right, got my Car back today. All I can say is that there is a massive improvement. It pulls all the way to the readline. The torque is fantastic and Pete at Prosport managed to get the Car to 287lb/ft!! . Very nice feeling. So I can recommend getting this done.
