Default Up pipe heat shield

The heat shield from my 99 plate impreza has broken away and is rattling on the universal steering joint . What do I do?

1. Rip it off & wrap it - not sure how much hastle this will be

2. I thought I may be able to get a jubilee clip around the shield to keep it on.

3. Just rip it off, but will this dry out the joint on the steering?

Not sure what to do but the vibration through the steering is now very bad.

Cheers Ade

The only real way is to remove and wrap, i have just gone through this myself, how loose is the shield? there's lots of room where the downpipe fits, i don't remember it being to close to the UJ on the steering.
You could try putting a spot weld on the sheld for now, and tacking it to the down pipe. The up-pipe shield also goes the same way so may be time to do both.
