U8 is the standard ECU for that car.

These ECUs are chipable, so if you open it up and check, there should be a blank area on the circuit board where a chip would fit.

This picture shows the inside of an ECU that has had a socket fitted into the blank space (top right of the pic). A chip would then be fitted into this. If yours is standard, the area with the socket here will just be plain green circuit board.

Default update 12/06/06

brought the car as a cat c salvage for a steal trying to get a bit of background history and what has been done to the car

open'd up ecu today diddnt look promiseing as original jap seals still intact but to my surprise were i expected a blank hole to be was a chip with a sticker on it saying wrx2 pic enclosed if any one has any info on this and the maf sensor, intercooler turbo and down pipe please let me know

pic of ecu

a.r.c intercooler from the states i think

the maff sensor is this the good one or the fragile one

the bottom pipe on the right of the solenoid has been taken off were its meant to go i persume this should go to the actuator, but instead their is a pipe going from actuator back to the snail ive seen this done on cossies but dont know why any answers

last of all the turbo dont know if any one can tell if this is the std one for car or has been changed

if any one can help me identify any of these and explain why changes have been made and what gains i might get will help.
ive got knoledge of cossies but am trying to gain more on the scooby
cheers kip

Be carefull if it's running a jap map. It may be too aggressive for UK fuel
