clutch staying down...

Default clutch staying down...

hi there,
driving down the motorway in my sti4 and pressed the clutch to lower the gears and it stayed down - lifted it with my foor but as soon as you touch it it drops to the floor - had to get recovered home...

Any ideas.....?

clutch slave cylinder sounds like mate,bolted to the outside of the gearbox and connected to clutch arm,seal mite ave gone or pipe burst.

had a mate look at it and he says it is slave cylinder leaking -
how much for one..? is it a dealer only part....?

I got one off ebay for twenty quid. Any Subaru scrappies will have them, but I don't think they are hugely expensive from SUbaru. Maybe £50? Could be that they'll do a service kit with just the seals?
