Hydra ECU
Hi all,
Comparatively speaking what are the main differences between this ECU and the Apexi Power FC.
After an initial conversation with a fellow Subaru owner I under stand that by employing the Hydra I could do away with the MAF which causes no end of problems.
All help appreciated.

Cost, MAF and number of mappers.
The Apexi PowerFc is very good value for money, but retains the MAF.
There are plenty of us mapping the Apexi PFC, less so doing the Hydra.
It is obvious on a PowerFC when the maf has failed.. it drives like a dog.. unlike the Original ecu which learns as the maf fails until it runs lean and damages the engine. Therefore on a PowerFC it is less of an issue.
imho

Cheers Simon,
I've look at the cost and it is indeed a few hundred ponuds more but I'm trying to weight he pros and cons.
Having had my engine rebuilt recently I've had the standard airbox and re-circ bov put back. I ideally want these items back on the car.
I'm planning:
an FMIC
HKS induction
TBC vta bov
Stand alone ECU
Boost increase
Will this cause any short - long term issues with the running? If yes would you imagine the hydra being competent enough to overcome the MAFs shortcomings?

none of the planned mods you mention should cause a long term issue on either ecu imho.
The slight issue of vta dv with maf can be mapped around / pretty much unnoticable.
