Default Dump valves

Hi. New to the scooby world. Just got a my02 STI type uk. Was wondering if it was worth upgrading the standard dump valve? If so what works well? As far as i know its running a 2.5-3.0" straight through pipe. uprated fuel pump.Did have a RCM induction filter on but took it off and put standard airbox back on. Seems to run smoother. Dont know if its been re-mapped.Any help much appreciated.THANKS

This is one of the most contentious points on Scoobynet.
I had a vta on my import(classic shape) and did enjoy the ptoosh noise but it started to mess up my fuelling, took it off replaced with standard one and the car runs a lot better smoother acceleration, gear changes etc.
So imo don't bother.

Iv read that the vta/recirc are better than normal vta.Is this true? or should i still steer clear of them?

I can't comment on the vta/recirc ones as i don't know
Best thing you can do is ask tuners eg Roger Clark motorsport ,Zen performance as these guys have made some of the quickest imprezas in the country so know what they are doing.
